RESCHEDULED: 2014 Film Series: Gold

Bad news blog friends – this severe winter weather means we’ve had to reschedule our movie ‘Gold’ due to be screened tomorrow (Wednesday, February 12, 2014). For the safety of our staff, members and friends, we’ve closed the Goethe-Zentrum until Thursday at the earliest, sad times we know!

But the movie will still be going ahead – just on a different date! So, here’s all the new information you’ll need to still catch a glimpse of the action!

NEW DATE: Wednesday, February 26, 2014
TIME: 7pm
WHERE: Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta Auditorium
ADMISSION: Complimentary for Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta students, $5 for guests

And just in case you’ve forgotten – here’s that all important film information:

Thomas Arslan (2013, 101 min) in German with English subtitles.

What it’s about:
Summer 1898. Canada, during the Klondike Gold Rush. Seven German immigrants set out in search of gold in the backwoods of British Columbia. Together they embark on the long journey to the newly discovered gold fields in Dawson. Brought together by shady businessman Wilhelm Laser’s advertisement, the members of the group put it all on the line to change their miserable lives. The last to join is Emily Mayer, played by Nina Hoss, a metropolitan woman whose delicate demeanor masks a steely determination to survive. As the path grows more treacherous, betrayals come to light and desperate choices are made. Gold is an epic that offers an unconventional take on the Western genre.

We hope you can still join us, despite the change in date!
Stay safe and warm during the ice storm – we’ll see you on the other side!
