Holiday Greetings from the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta

Dear Members, Supporters, and Friends,

We appreciate and thank you sincerely for another successful year at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta.  We hope that you attended and enjoyed our many cultural programs, German language classes, and outreach events throughout the year.

In terms of growth, we are most proud of our Outreach programs. In partnership with the German Consulate General, the Department of Education, and business representatives we hosted career days at various Atlanta area schools.  Another Outreach program involved welcoming students for language and cultural Immersion Days at the Goethe-Zentrum’s facility.  We also hosted 21 “Treffpunkt Goethe” events, providing our space and assistance to partner organizations for their programs.

While continuing to provide a full spectrum of German language courses here at our Midtown Atlanta office and at our corporate clients’ facilities, we added classes in Greater Hall County as well as an after school program.  In addition, 68 learners of German proved their dedication to the German language by taking a proficiency exam.

Strengthening our partnerships enabled us to offer a wide array of cultural programs.  Our 16th annual European Wine Festival, the Franco-German Hélène Berr exhibit, several European Science Cafés, the 2014 World Cup screenings, and our commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Wall filled our auditorium to capacity. These programs, our ongoing “Word on Art” series, and the staged reading of Banality of Love in Spring were among our audience’s favorites.

Our programs would not be possible without the support of our members, friends, and partner organizations; to you we owe a special debt of gratitude.  We express heartfelt thanks to our donors and sponsors whose generous financial support has enabled us to fulfill our mission this past year.  We furthermore would like to thank our dedicated board members, our faculty of highly-skilled teachers and staff, and to all our volunteers who generously donated their time and talent throughout 2014.

Looking ahead and with you in mind, our language program continues to grow, our outreach activities to local schools continue to multiply and very exciting cultural programs are being planned.  We look forward to seeing you again at the Goethe in 2015!
