EVENT: A Word on Art – The Works of Mildred Thompson

It’s time for the latest installment in our “A Word on Art” series and we’re pretty sure you’re all dying to know more about it! Ready? Here goes…

thompson_mystery_smallJoin us as we take an exclusive look at the art works of Mildred Thompson (1936-2003), now on display at the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University.

Andi McKenzie, Assistant Curator, Works on Paper, will show and describe the works of Ms. Thompson, an African-American artist who studied, worked and exhibited her work in Germany.

Mildred Thompson worked in the media of painting, drawing, printmaking sculpture and photography. Influences on her artwork include West African textiles, Islamic architecture German Expressionism, music astronomy spiritualism and metaphysics.
