We’ll be screening Bernhard Wicki’s “Die Brücke” which will be introduced by Dr. Faye Stewart from Georgia State University.

Here’s the deal – you can start the evening with our featured cocktail, which for this movie is an “Unsung Hero,” made with kirsch, brandy and lemonade. We think it fits in with the film’s storyline – once you’ve seen it we reckon you will too!

Then, you get to settle down and watch the film which will be introduced by Dr. Faye Stewart, Assistant Professor for Modern and Classical Languages at Georgia State University. She concentrates on Twentieth and Twenty-First Century German and Austrian Literature, Film, and Popular Culture; Gender and Sexuality Studies.

A question and answer session with Dr. Stewart will follow the film, along with a reception, where you might want to indulge in another cocktail!

A little about the film:

Die Brücke (The Bridge) is a 1959 West German film directed by Austrian filmmaker Berhard Wicki. It is based on the 1958 novel by journalist and writer Gregor Dorfmeister (published under the pseudonym Manfred Gregor). The story was based on an actual event, upon the personal report of a surviving veteran who in his own youth experienced a similar situation in World War II.
