She has been selected to perform with the GMEA All-State Orchestra for the past 4 years and plays for her school’s Advanced Chamber Orchestra. Amy loves playing in quartets. She is currently playing with a group involved in the Emory Youth Chamber Program and is also playing with a group that got invited to participate in a quartet competition at the University of South Carolina.
Monica Chang Monica has played the violin for 7 years and attends North Gwinnett High School in which she is involved in the school orchestra’s chamber program specialized for students who wish to concentrate on string quartet performance. Her quartet was invited to participate in the annual quartet competition at the University of South Carolina and is also involved in the Emory Youth Chamber Program, with which she is in a quartet with Erika Clift, Amy Park, and her older sister, Lesley Chang. Monica’s group performance experiences include playing for the Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra, Kendall Youth Orchestra, and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has also been selected to perform with the GMEA All-State Orchestra for the past 5 years. Monica’s current violin instructor is William Pu Music Academy’s director, William Pu.
Lesley Chang Lesley is a current aspiring student of William Pu’s, and has studied violin performance for 9 years. She is also involved with North Gwinnett High School’s chamber orchestra program in which her main concentration is string quartet performance. Her school quartet was selected to compete in a quartet competition at University of South Carolina. Lesley’s group performance experiences over the years include playing with the Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra, Kendall Youth Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, and Emory Youth Chamber Program. She enjoys string quartet performance the most and hopes to continue her career in chamber music in college, as well.
The Clift Quartet The Clift Quartet was originally formed at the WIlliam Pu Music Academy last year, and for their first performance they performed the first movement of the Dvorak “American” String Quartet. Later, their mutual passion for string quartet performance led them to audition and be selected for the Emory Youth Chamber Program. Through EYCP, they grew even further as a quartet and received numerous coachings from each of the players of the renowned Emory Vega Quartet. Without the help and coachings of the players of the Vega Quartet, Noriko Konno Clift, and WIlliam Pu, the Clift Quartet would not be where it is today.
