EVENT: Mathematics You Can Touch Exhibition – Family Day!
Ok guys, we have an amazing exhibition coming to the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta in September that you do not want to miss out on: Mathematics You Can Touch! Yes, we all know math isn’t that exciting or as interesting as other subjects, but believe us when we say that this definitely makes math fun! The exhibit will run for about 2 weeks but this event is one you need to put on your calendar – our family day!
Coming from the “Mathmatikum” science museum in Gieβen, Germany, the ‘Mathematics You Can Touch’ interactive exhibit is aimed at people of all ages and will open your eyes to math and give you a completely different outlook on basic math principles.
20 hands-on stations will enable you to solve puzzles, figure out riddles, discover the wonders of mirrors, construct soap bubble shapes and much more all while using trigonometry, symmetry, function behavior, probability and much more!
Bring the family for a day of learning and fun: work your way around the exhibits together, solving math problems, meeting new people and, most importantly, having fun! We’ll have German immersion workshops throughout the day to introduce you and your family to the language and culture of Germany.
Join us at 5:00pm for an interactive “Math and Music” talk by Dr. Dirk Schlingmann, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at USC Upstate. Make sure you don’t miss out on one man, his guitar and how math and music work together, proving that math is much more exciting than you think!
And, we’ll end the day with some “Math and Mocktails” – work your way around the exhibit while enjoying a drink or two!
There’s something for everyone at the family day – make sure you don’t miss out!
Here’s what you need to know:
When: Saturday, September 17, 2016
Time: 10:00am – 8:00pm (The Math and Music lecture will be at 5:00pm)
Where: Colony Square, Plaza Level
Now, we don’t need you to register for the family day itself, you can stop in whenever you like to check out the stations and learn a little more about how math can be fun. We will, however, need you to register for the “Math and Music” lecture by Dr. Dirk Schlingmann – we need numbers for this one and make sure we can fit all the interested people in one place! This is a first come, first served lecture so make sure you don’t miss out – register for the event today by clicking the link below:
We look forward to seeing you there!
