DON’T MISS OUT: Mathematics You Can Touch Family Day
Guys, this is happening this weekend and we would hate for you to miss out on all the fun and action at the Mathematics You Can Touch family day! We have all sorts of fun activities planned throughout the day that you definitely want to be involved in!
Coming from the “Mathmatikum” science museum in Gieβen, Germany, the ‘Mathematics You Can Touch’ interactive exhibit is aimed at people of all ages and will open your eyes to math and give you a completely different outlook on basic math principles.
20 hands-on stations will enable you to solve puzzles, figure out riddles, discover the wonders of mirrors, construct soap bubble shapes and much more all while using trigonometry, symmetry, function behavior, probability and much more!
Bring the family for a day of learning and fun: work your way around the exhibits together, solving math problems, meeting new people and, most importantly, having fun! We’ll have German immersion workshops throughout the day to introduce you and your family to the language and culture of Germany.
Join us at 5:00pm for an interactive “Math and Music” talk by Dr. Dirk Schlingmann, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at USC Upstate. Make sure you don’t miss out on one man, his guitar and how math and music work together, proving that math is much more exciting than you think!
After Dr. Schlingmann’s lecture, we’ll have a performance from German electro-pop artist Dyko at 6:30pm. Dyko is the Australian artist John Barrie Dyke. he grew up in Melbourne and lives between Berlin and Melbourne. He has performed over 155 concerts in 36 countries to audiences reaching from Alaska to Shanghai and from South Africa to Finland. His recent tours took him to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Poland, Armenia, Indonesia, Spain and the Berlin fashion week.
And, we’ll end the day with some “Math and Mocktails” – work your way around the exhibit while enjoying a drink or two!
There’s something for everyone at the family day – make sure you don’t miss out!
Here’s what you need to know:
