Lately our board members have been picking up awards left, right and center and we thought a blog would be the perfect place to showcase their talents, congratulate them on their awards and thank them for all their support.
Dear Members, Supporters, and Friends,
We appreciate and thank you sincerely for another successful year at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta. We hope that you attended and enjoyed our many cultural programs, German language classes, and outreach events throughout the year.
All these programs would not be possible without the support of you, our members, friends, and partner organizations; to you we owe a special debt of gratitude. We express heartfelt thanks to our donors and sponsors whose generous financial support has enabled us to fulfill our mission this past year. We would also like to thank our dedicated board members, our faculty of highly-skilled teachers and staff, and to all our volunteers who generously donated their time and talent throughout 2015.
Looking ahead and with you in mind, our language program continues to grow, our outreach activities to local schools continue to multiply and exciting cultural programs are being planned. We look forward to seeing you again at the Goethe in 2016 and to celebrating our 40th anniversary with you.
2016 will be an exciting year for the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta as it celebrates 40 years in Atlanta. Our organization was saved from closure by you, our local community, who came together when funding from the German government was cut. Next year is all about thanking you for all your support, donations and determination to keep the Goethe-Zentrum in Atlanta.
It will be a great year of celebrations, thanks and excitement for what the next 40 years has to offer. We’re looking forward to welcoming you at our various anniversary programs.

Chairman of the Board Executive Director
Great news for our friends at the University of North Georgia (UNG) – with our help, they’ve established a new partnership with the Goethe-Insitut, strengthening their language program and providing advanced courses to students and we’re so excited for them! This is a great opportunity for the university, it’s students and ourselves to really put German language learning on the map and carve out some fantastic careers in the process!
Ok guys, so, you know we’re a nonprofit and we exist solely because of your support and donations, right? Well, it’s that time of year again where we ask you to continue with your much appreciated support and give to Goethe. This way, we can continue to provide our language courses, school and university outreach and cultural program for you to enjoy and to help us to foster friendships between German and American people. Simple!
Here at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta we work with a wide range or partner organizations who support us in ways we never thought possible. Without them, our work here would be much harder and we’d find it so much more difficult to provide you with the services you receive and host such a wide range of events.
So, we thought we would shine some light on some of our biggest partners – tell you a little bit more about them, how we work with them and how their partnership with us makes a difference.
We thought we would start with one of our closest partners – the Alliance Française d’Atlanta.
We have some great news guys, well, not so much for us when it comes to saying goodbye to a colleague but, that opens up doors for you!
If you’ve been dreaming about a job here at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta or getting more involved with us then this blog post is definitely for you!
That’s right guys, we have a job opening here at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta, our Language Program Manager is moving on to pastures new and we’re looking for someone to fill his shoes!
So, if you’re a dyanamic person who is fluent in both English and German and has the relevant qualifications and experience, this could well be for you.
Lately, we’ve been getting a few inquiries as to why we’re the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta and not a Goethe-Institut. The answer to this question is a long one, and, if you’re new around these parts, you probably don’t know the answer either, so, we thought we’d explain it to you in a handy little blog post to help you to understand.
Do you find yourself doing a lot of shopping on Amazon? Did you know that by shopping on Amazon you can also donate to one of your favorite causes, the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta!
