Being able to speak a second language is a great skill, something that can help you with so many areas of your life you wouldn’t believe! Are you ready to wow your friends with your German skills or take that trip to Germany to check out its beauty or trace your family tree? Maybe your dream is to live and work in Germany? If the answer is yes to any of these questions then now is the time to embark upon the new adventure of learning German- something we can definitely help you with!

Registration is now open for our Spring Quarter language courses – we have everything from beginner courses for people who have never spoken a word of German in their lives to near native. Classes take place throughout the week here in Midtown Atlanta and on Saturdays at various different times so there’s bound to be a slot to suit you somewhere!

All courses are 10 weeks in length with classes meeting once a week on various times and days. Lessons last for 2.5 hours with a short break in the middle. We have a full staff of highly trained teachers and, once you finish your course and pass your exams, you’ll receive an internationally recognized qualification.

We also offer individual  instruction if your schedule means you can’t make one of our classes, and, if you’re not based here in Atlanta, we offer distance learning through video conferencing. See, there’s an option for everyone – no excuses!

But, why on earth would you want to learn German when you’re living in America? Well, here in the South East there are a ton of German companies with offices in Georgia and the surrounding states and guess what, jobs are opening up at these places all the time. Having German language skills on your resumé will definitely put you head and shoulders above the rest! In fact, we’ve written a nifty guide as to why you should learn German! We’re pretty helpful like that. Check it out by clicking here.

So, what are you waiting for? Take your first steps to broadening your mind and helping yourself to live a little longer – research shows being bilingual can help stave off Alzheimer’s disease along with many other health benefits!

TOMORROW: Big German Career Day – Mit Deutsche Karriere machen!

We’re spreading the word tomorrow about how important it is to learn German as a second language and the doors it can open for you when we get involved in the Big German Career Day – Mit Deutsch Karriere machen!

Picture - Class Books

It’s taking place around high schools in the Greater Atlanta area on Thursday, October 2, from 7am – 4pm. We’ll be heading into schools and talking to students about the benefits of learning German and how it can help them to progress on the path to a successful career.

But the response has been so great that we’re extending visits to middle schools, high schools and universities throughout October and November. Want to know more about it? Here goes:

Big German Career Day – Mit Deutsch Karriere machen!
Your students made a decision to study German – and perhaps they have been studying German for a few years already.
Now they are asking the question about how they can use German in their future career.
At our extended event Big German Career Day – Mit Deutsch Karriere machen! we will seek answers to the following questions:

  • Which & how many German companies are located in Atlanta and the Southeastern United States?
  • What educational background is necessary to work for a German or international company?
  • What are the advantages of studying German?
  • Studying only German is not sufficient for a career, but combinations with which other courses are particularly useful or sought after?

Representatives of German-American companies will answer these questions from both a personal and professional point of view and provide information about specific training and career opportunities, describing their ideal candidates. Participants will also receive information about university programs and scholarships for American students who wish to study in Germany.

Interested in a visit? Contact us at marketing@german-institute.org and we will be happy to schedule a date!

And don’t forget…

DYKO is performing at the Goethe-Zentrum tomorrow night too!

Come and see one of Germany’s best known Electro-Pop artists in your own backyard! DYKO – aka John Barrie Dyke from Melbourne,Australia – is one of the best known German Electro-Pop artists. Devoted to Synthi-Pop und New Wave, he is inspired by artists such as Kraftwerk, David Bowie and Depeche Mode. In his work, he focuses on the development of the sound from that era.

Dyko, who musically and visually reflects his fascination with German everyday-life culture in his very own style of Electro-Pop, sees himself as a cultural ambassador. On stage, he combines his lyrics with graphically abstract and realistic projections. Some of his background visuals are taken from the language course video “Kontakte” (“Contacts”) from the 1970’s, which make his concerts seem partly like a musical German course. The connection of language and visual scenes from “Kontakte” brings about elementary and repetitive text structures, which are easy to understand, especially for learners at the beginners’ level.

This is an event not to be missed by German language students of all ages! Admission is complimentary and all you need to do is bring a German dictionary with you, if you have one of course!

To make sure you’re involved with this amazing event, make sure you register by clicking here.
