Join the Consulate General of France in Atlanta, the US World War I Centennial Commission, the Georgia Tech Center for European and Transatlantic Studies, the Alliance Française d’Atlanta and the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta as we celebrate Europe Day.
Monique Seefried, Ph.D, Commissioner at the World War I Centennial Commission will speak about “Why is the Centennial of World War I Relevant for Understanding Europe Today?”
Introductory remarks will be given by The Hon. Denis Barbet, Consul General of France and Dr. Vicki Birchfield, Co-director of the Center for European and Transatlantic Studies at Georgia Tech.
A wine and cheese reception will follow.

After listening to a very interesting and captivating discussion on Tuesday evening between German journalist Christoph von Marschall and French journalist Gallagher Fenwick from France 24 at our Elysée Treaty Celebration, I was lucky enough to be able to sit down and chat to Christoph the following day to talk about some of the issues raised during the discussion.
August is usually one of our quieter months here at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta, people are out of town on vacation, school’s out for summer and the weather is just too hot! But, that doesn’t mean we don’t have anything going on at all – quite the contrary! There is always something happening here! So, it’s time for a rundown of what went on in August.
