Do you like jazz music? If the answer is yes, then this is the event for you! Ready to find out more? Read on!
This Sunday (November 9th) marks 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, and obviously, we thought we should commemorate this! So, with the help of our friends at the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Atlanta, we’re screening a couple of lunchtime movies.
So, if you find yourself at a lose end and feel like watching a German film (with English subtitles) then head on down to the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta!
It was event time again here at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta on Monday when we hosted ‘Kulturhäuser der DDR’ with the help of the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Did you make it down here? If you did, see if you can spot yourselves on some of our pictures. If not, here’s a little run down of what happened! We don’t want you to feel left out now do we?
Around 45 people gathered in the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta auditorium on Monday, March 31, 2014 to find out more about the extensive cultural program that existed in East Germany before it’s reunification with the West.
That’s right people! We have a new course here at the Goethe-Zentrum for our spring term and it’s all about German opera!
Join our teacher David Kerr as he takes you on a tour of German opera and helps you to get to grips with it.
It’s that time again – when we wave bye-bye to yet another week! How fast is this year going? I know, we can’t quite believe it either!
Anyway, after the excitement of last week’s language breakfast it’s been a pretty quiet week at the Goethe-Zentrum, well as quiet as it will ever get in these parts!
Here’s what happened this week:
MONDAY: As with every Monday, we all hated the alarm clock but came into work and managed to make it through the day…fueled by a lot of coffee and chocolate!
It’s been another busy but successful week here at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta and in a few hours time we’ll be raising a glass and saying ‘cheers’ to the weekend!
But, before we do that, we thought we’d fill you in on what’s been happening in this fine establishment this week!
MONDAY: Was a pretty normal day at Goethe HQ – e-mails were read, phone calls made, classes taught…
Get those diaries out Goethe blog lovers – this is a movie you don’t want to miss!
Following on from our Hélène Berr exhibition (that you can still check out at the Goethe-Zentrum if you haven’t seen it yet!) we’re hosting a movie night along with our French friends at the Alliance Française:
Hélène Berr, a young woman in occupied Paris
Bad news blog friends – this severe winter weather means we’ve had to reschedule our movie ‘Gold’ due to be screened tomorrow (Wednesday, February 12, 2014). For the safety of our staff, members and friends, we’ve closed the Goethe-Zentrum until Thursday at the earliest, sad times we know!
But the movie will still be going ahead – just on a different date! So, here’s all the new information you’ll need to still catch a glimpse of the action!
NEW DATE: Wednesday, February 26, 2014
WHERE: Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta Auditorium
ADMISSION: Complimentary for Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta students, $5 for guests
It’s here! Our first film screening of 2014! We know you’ve all been desperately waiting for it so make sure you pop the date in your diary as soon as you’ve read this blog post!
So, we’ll be screening the film Gold by Thomas Arslan. (2013, 101 min) in German with English subtitles.
